Chennai Yacht Rental — Sail the Bay of Bengal with Accretion Aviation
Chennai Yacht Rental — Your Gateway to the Bay of Bengal
There's something about Chennai's coastline that hits different when you're seeing it from the water. Not from Marina Beach with a thousand other people around you. From the deck of a sailing yacht, with the wind in your hair and the Chennai harbor stretching out behind you. That's what we do at Accretion Aviation.
We're a yacht rental company based right here in Chennai, and we've been helping people — couples, families, friend groups, corporate teams — get out on the Bay of Bengal for years. Whether you're after a quiet sunset sail with your partner or a full-group adventure with six of your closest people, we've got a yacht that fits.
Our fleet is based at Chennai Harbor and Chennai Port, so you're never driving hours to reach us. If you're coming from T Nagar, Adyar, Anna Nagar, OMR, or ECR, you're looking at 30-45 minutes max. Even from the airport, it's a straight shot down the GST Road.
Our Chennai Yacht Fleet — Shared Cruise & Private J80 Yachts
Here's what you've got to choose from. And yeah, we know the prices matter — so we're putting them right up front. No "request a quote" nonsense.
| Experience | Type | Capacity | Duration | Price | Boarding Point |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chennai Shared Cruise | Shared Cruise | 1 person (₹1,650 ea) | 1 hour | ₹1,650 | Muttukadu Boat House |
| J80 Private Yacht (Intimate) | Private Sailing Yacht | 2 guests | 90 min | ₹19,000 | Chennai Harbor |
| J80 Private Yacht (Group) | Private Sailing Yacht | 6 guests | 90 min | ₹22,000 | Chennai Harbor |
A quick note on the shared cruise: This isn't some cramped tourist boat. It's a 125-foot, twin-deck cruise vessel with live entertainment and a DJ. You get tea, coffee, hot snacks after the sail, and you're sharing the experience with other Chennai folks who also wanted something different for their weekend. Runs Saturday and Sunday, 5 PM to 6 PM. Perfect if you want to test the waters (literally) before booking a private yacht.
The J80 yachts are where the magic really happens. These are proper sailing yachts — not motor boats with a sail slapped on. You feel the boat heel as the wind catches the canvas. You hear the water against the hull. It's a real sailing experience, skippered by our certified crew. Morning slots run 11 AM to 5 PM. Sunset slots — and these are the ones that get booked out first — run 4:30 PM to 8 PM.
Private Yacht in Chennai — Perfect For Every Occasion
We've had proposals at sunset where the guy couldn't get the ring out fast enough because the light was that perfect. We've had pre-wedding shoots where the photographer got shots that no beach in Chennai could match. We've had corporate teams come back saying it was the best off-site they've ever done.
Here's what people book our Chennai yachts for:
-
Date nights & proposals — The sunset slot was basically made for this. Chennai Harbor turns gold at 5:45 PM. You do the math.
-
Pre-wedding shoots — Your photographer will thank you. The marina backdrop, the open water, the natural light. It's cinematic.
-
Birthdays & anniversaries — Way better than another dinner at a restaurant everyone's already been to.
-
Bachelor & bachelorette experiences — One last sail before the big day. (Just remember: no alcohol on the J80s. We'll get to that.)
-
Corporate events & team building — Nothing builds trust like relying on the same wind.
-
Tourists & experience travelers — If you're visiting Chennai and want to do something that isn't temples and malls, this is it.
-
Friends chilling — Sometimes you just need to get out of the city without actually leaving it.

Best Time to Book a Yacht in Chennai
Chennai's sailing season runs pretty much year-round, but here's the honest truth:
November to February
This is the sweet spot. The northeast monsoon has passed, the skies are clear, and the Bay of Bengal is at its calmest. Morning slots are gorgeous, and sunset slots? Absolutely unreal.
March to May
Hot. Like, really hot. Morning slots (11 AM - 2 PM) are still fine, but the 2-5 PM slot can get uncomfortable. Sunset slots are still magical, though.
June to September
Monsoon season. We monitor weather closely. Some days are perfect for sailing (the wind is incredible), but we cancel if there's a storm warning. Your safety comes first.
October
Transitional month. Usually good, but check the forecast.
What to Expect — Your Yacht Experience Timeline
Arrival (T-30 Minutes)
You reach Chennai Harbor or Muttukadu Boat House. Our team greets you, checks your documents, and gives you a quick safety briefing. Life jackets on.
Boarding (T-0)
You step onto the yacht. The crew helps you get settled. If it's your first time, they'll explain what the sails do, how the boat moves with the wind. It's genuinely fascinating.
Sailing (T+0 to T+90 min)
The motor cuts off. The sails go up. And suddenly you're moving with nothing but wind power. You'll see Chennai Port from the water, cargo ships up close, and then the open Bay of Bengal. If you booked sunset, the sky starts turning colors around the 60-minute mark.
Return (T+90 min)
We motor back into the harbor. Shared cruise folks get their tea, coffee, and snacks. Private yacht guests — you just had 90 minutes that nobody on land experienced today.
Safety & Crew Credentials — Why You Can Trust Us
Our skippers are certified by the Yachting Association of India (YAI). They've sailed these waters for years. They know when the wind shifts, how the harbor currents run, and exactly what to do if the weather turns.
Every J80 yacht is inspected before each sail. Life jackets are checked, the rigging is verified, and the hull is inspected. We don't cut corners because there's nowhere to pull over in the middle of the Bay of Bengal.
Your safety isn't a checkbox for us. It's the entire foundation of what we do.

Are there any weight or health restrictions?
Passengers should be physically able to board a small yacht and wear a life jacket. If you have mobility concerns, please tell us when booking so we can arrange appropriate assistance. Pregnant women and people with serious back/neck issues should consult their doctor before booking.
